In an earlier post I wrote about how to install git from source.
I’ve found an easier way. Add the EPEL repository to YUM.
The EPEL is Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux. And in there are a lot of goodies. Among them – git and git-svn.
The fast way is to do the following:
# rpm -Uvh http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm
For some reason that fails on my installation. But this works:
# cd /tmp # wget http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm # rpm -Uvh ./epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm
Then to install git all you have to do is
# yum install git # yum install git-svn
